CBD – oil for cats and phenols (toxic for cats too!)

CBD - Oil for cats and phenols (also toxic for cats!), Canna Oil information

Yes, not only terpenes, phenols are also toxic to cats...

What about CBD oil for cats and phenols (also toxic to cats!)?

Therefore, it is also recommended to keep aromatic oils (for fragrance lamps, etc.) away from cats. Of course, these also contain phenols!
First of all, we agree that terpenes and phenols are toxic to cats and that administration is therefore not recommended!

At Canna Oil we only work with a pure extract, a so-called isolate.
Free from terpenes and phenols, which are of course contained in a full-spectrum extract.

Strictly speaking, cannabidiol (CBD) is also a phenol, but all harmful phenols (aromatics) have been removed from it and accordingly we speak of an isolate.

Our CBD oil is obtained from selected plants (certified organic).
The hemp plants have a high CBD content, only female plants are manually selected for their high cannabinoid content.
The oil used in the extraction process is cold-pressed oil from our own cultivation (100%).
Its composition can vary between 100% virgin hemp seed oil, linseed oil, or rapeseed oil (max. 2%) to increase the efficiency of the extraction process.

Canna Oil Paw, Canna Oil Logo Here is a more detailed description of phenols and the use of aromatic oils in cats:

Aromatic oils are essential oils derived from various plants and are often used in aromatherapy to relieve various ailments. While generally safe for humans, some aromatic oils can be very toxic to pets, especially cats.

Cats have a different metabolic rate than humans, which means they can break down certain chemicals more slowly than we can. This can make them more sensitive to certain toxins, including those found in some flavoring oils.

Canna Oil Paw, Canna Oil Logo Some of the most common aromatic oils that are toxic to cats are:

  • Tea Tree Oil: Tea tree oil is a popular essential oil used to treat skin conditions and disinfect. However, it can cause severe poisoning in cats, which can result in neurological symptoms such as tremors, convulsions, and even coma.
  • Peppermint Oil: Peppermint oil is often used to relieve headaches and other ailments, but it can cause serious respiratory problems in cats.
  • Cinnamon oil: Commonly used as a fragrance, cinnamon oil can cause respiratory problems, vomiting, and diarrhea in cats.
  • Eucalyptus Oil: Commonly used to treat colds and relieve pain, eucalyptus oil can cause respiratory problems and poisoning in cats.

It's important to note that these are just a few examples of aromatic oils that can be toxic to cats. There are many other oils that can cause problems in cats and it is best to do your research before using aromatic oils around cats.

If you suspect your cat has been exposed to any toxic substance, including aromatic oils, you should seek medical attention immediately. Symptoms of poisoning can vary from cat to cat and can range from mild reactions like drooling and shaking to severe symptoms like loss of consciousness and shortness of breath.

Overall, cat owners should exercise extreme caution when using aromatherapy oils and ensure they only use oils that are safe for cats. When in doubt, consult your veterinarian for advice before using an aromatic oil.
